French authorities have reported that 780 people were arrested across the country during the celebrations of Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League win over Arsenal. The celebrations turned violent and included a tragic road accident that resulted in the death of a young man.

Thousands of fans took to the streets of Paris to celebrate PSG’s victory. However, some groups clashed with police. In response, about 22,000 police officers were deployed across France. This was a precaution due to the unrest that happened last year when PSG won the same competition.

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez spoke at a press briefing about the situation. He noted an alarming rise in the use of fireworks aimed at police. He reported that 57 police officers were injured during the clashes. He also mentioned that 219 people were hurt across France, with eight of them suffering serious injuries.

In Paris, the public prosecutor’s office confirmed the death of a young man in a motocross bike accident on the ring road. Additionally, a person was critically injured after being attacked with a knife in the capital.

Nunez highlighted that the 780 arrests marked a 32 percent rise compared to the celebrations after PSG's Champions League win last year.
