The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) will not have candidates in the Cross River State governorship election on 6 February 2027.

This is because they were not included in the final list of candidates approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that INEC released the final list on Saturday. Only eight political parties have candidates for the governorship election.

The parties with candidates are the All Progressives Congress (APC), All Peoples Party (APP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), National Rescue Movement (NRM), Labour Party (LP), Action Alliance (AA), Action Democratic Party (ADP), and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the list, Nya Bassey from the APP is the youngest governorship candidate. Governor Bassey Otu of the APC and Ali Patrick of the AA are the oldest candidates at 66 years each.

In total, INEC has cleared 241 candidates to run for 36 elective positions in the state during the 2027 general elections.

These positions include governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly seats.
