Adeleke: My Dancing Doesn’t Distract Me as Governor

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has stood by his love for dancing. He said it does not get in the way of his job as he aims for a second term in office.

Adeleke spoke on Tuesday at a town hall meeting organized by Arise TV for candidates in the upcoming Osun State governorship election on August 15.

The governor called himself a "prudent worker". He explained that dancing is part of who he is and a hobby he enjoys. He insisted that he has completed many projects in different sectors, despite his public dancing.

"I dance because in my family, we are jolly good fellows. As I am dancing, I am working. There is time for everything, there is time to dance, and there is time to work. Dancing does not stop me from working. I have delivered across all sectors," Adeleke said.

This statement comes after Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, criticized his dancing. Okpebholo mocked him at an APC rally in Osun State and told people to reject what he called the "dancing governor."

Adeleke responded by saying that those who do not like his dancing should learn to dance. He emphasized that his dancing has not hurt his performance as governor.

"If they can’t dance, I can teach them how to dance," he said.

The governor mentioned that his people appreciate his personality and insisted that dancing is just a hobby for him.

"Dancing is a hobby. That does not affect my work. My people love me," he said.

Adeleke defended what his administration has done. He stated that they have built and fixed roads throughout the state. He also mentioned that solar-powered streetlights have been put up along some of these roads.

"As I’m speaking to you, I did not only build roads across Osun, I installed them with solar lights. This we did to provide security and enhance economic development," he said.

He also shared that his government has upgraded and repaired over 200 primary healthcare facilities, which now have electricity and clean water.

"As of today, we have upgraded and rehabilitated over 200 primary healthcare facilities to global standards, equipped with electricity and clean water," Adeleke said.

He added that qualified engineers have checked the projects done by his administration to ensure they meet international standards.

Adeleke is running for re-election with the Accord Party after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party, the party he was with when he won the 2022 governorship election.

He is up against the All Progressives Congress candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, and the African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, among others, in the election this Saturday.
