Ademola Adeleke from the Accord Party has won the most votes in Osogbo Local Government Area during the governorship election in Osun State on Saturday.

Mr Adeleke, who wants to serve another term, received 36,480 votes. His main opponent, Bola Oyebamiji from the All Progressives Congress (APC), got 30,474 votes.

Ikenna Odoh, the returning officer for the local government, shared the result around 12:10 a.m. on Sunday. This announcement came after counting the votes in front of party agents and observers.

Osogbo Local Government Area has 167,704 registered voters. Out of these, 70,840 were accredited to vote. A total of 69,307 valid votes were counted.

This local government has 15 registration areas.

Osogbo has long been a strong area for the APC, especially during former Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s time. It is known for high voter turnout, thanks to its large population, many civil servants, and its status as the state capital.

Now that the results are declared, they will be sent to the INEC state office in Abere, Osogbo, for final checks.
