Nigerian Fuji artist Adewale Ayuba has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s second term ambition. He believes the president should have another four years to build on his administration's achievements.
Ayuba, also known as Mr Johnson, shared his thoughts in a video posted by Goldmyne TV on Instagram on Sunday.
The singer highlighted what he called visible infrastructure development across Nigeria under Tinubu’s government. He pointed out these changes were particularly clear in his hometown, Ikenné, Ogun State, which he used to judge how the president’s policies have impacted the country.
According to Ayuba, Tinubu should be given the chance to finish the projects and programs his government has started.
"I know when I see the good news, I know when good things are happening in my nation. So I travel far and near in Nigeria. Now, if I’m going to my town, Ikenne Remo, it takes me only 25 to 30 minutes. And I have five different roads to take to get to Ikenne.
"Not like before, that I had to take the Ibadan Expressway. If I want to go through Ikorodu, I will get to Ikenne. If I want to go through Epe, I will get to Ikenne," said the singer.
Ayuba mentioned that traveling to his hometown was particularly tough before Tinubu’s administration took over. He said the bad roads also caused a lot of damage to his car.
He believes any leader who delivers real results deserves enough time to complete their projects.
Ayuba said, "And I’m promising you my car will not even go inside the gallop till I reach Ikenné. Any president that is doing that, my brother, we have to allow that kind of president to continue to finish his work."
Ayuba also noted that his travels through different states have shown him the real state of the country. He said what he has seen during these trips motivated him to speak out.
"Anyway, I don’t know what people are thinking about, but somebody wants to come back to finish his eight years, and they want to bring in another president.
"But to me, Adewale Ayuba, what I see is what I’m talking about. I’ve been a musician for ages, and I travel a lot in the state of Nigeria."
Ayuba’s support for Tinubu comes as more entertainers, including Remi Surutu, Adams "Lege Miami" Kehinde, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Yul Edochie, Seyi Law, Eniola Badmus, and Zack Orji, have publicly backed the president’s second term bid in 2027.
Some of these entertainers have also formed EKO57, a political support group that aims to rally Nigerians behind Tinubu’s re-election. They believe the president has done well since he took office.
The group stated that many of the country's issues existed before Tinubu became president, blaming some of them on the actions and attitudes of Nigerians. They also noted that the president has dealt with many sensitive matters away from the public eye, stopping them from becoming bigger problems.
According to the entertainers, Tinubu’s actions have helped prevent what could have turned into a more serious crisis.
Tinubu faces a tough re-election challenge next year as the nation struggles with its worst cost-of-living crisis in a generation. This situation has come about due to government policies that the president claims are necessary.
