New Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has told five senior players they can leave the club. This decision comes as he starts to change the team just a week into pre-season training.

A report from Portuguese outlet A Bola on Thursday says that goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, defenders Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile, winger Alejandro Garnacho, and striker Liam Delap have all been informed they can look for new clubs this summer.

These five players have a total market value of around £160 million.

The Sun reports that Alonso, who became Chelsea's manager this summer, has already hinted that Garnacho might leave. There is reported interest from another club.

"We have spoken to the sporting director and there's interest from him, from another club, so let’s see how it develops. I hope it finishes in the best possible way for all parties," he said at his first press conference.

Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United last summer but had a tough first season. He scored eight goals and made four assists in 43 games, according to the report.

Delap also found it hard to make an impact after moving from Ipswich Town, scoring two goals and providing four assists in 41 matches.

Badiashile didn’t play much last season. Disasi lost his place in the team and spent the second half of the season on loan. Jorgensen, the goalkeeper, only played 12 times.

Chelsea have already boosted Alonso’s squad with new players like Geovany Quenda, Emmanuel Emegha, and Marco Palestra ahead of the new season. Players who were at the FIFA World Cup are expected to return to pre-season training soon.
