Governors from the All Progressives Congress gathered in Kebbi State on Tuesday for the Progressive First-Term Governors’ Meeting.

The meeting took place behind closed doors at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi. It aims to discuss national issues and concerns affecting the ruling APC.

First-term governors are those serving their first four-year term in their states.

Attending the meeting are governors from Kaduna, Plateau, Ekiti, Delta, Zamfara, Kano, Jigawa, Ebonyi, Edo, Ondo, Kogi, Sokoto, and Benue states, among others.

The host governor, Nasir Idris, welcomed the other governors alongside the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

Updates on arrivals were shared on Facebook by Abuzaidu Yari, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Kebbi State Governor. He said the meeting would focus on national development and the party’s agenda.

Yari announced the arrival of Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu. He wrote, "The arrival of His Excellency, the Governor of Sokoto State, Dr Ahmad Aliyu, at the Kebbi State Government House, where APC governors will hold a special meeting to discuss important issues for the development of Nigeria."

In another post, he shared news about the governors of Kaduna, Ekiti, Plateau, and Delta states arriving.

He wrote, "The arrival of the governors of Kaduna State, Sen. Uba Sani; Ekiti State, Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji; Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang; and Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, at the Kebbi State Government House, where APC governors will hold a special meeting to discuss important issues for the development of Nigeria."

The governors were warmly welcomed by the host governor, Dr Nasir Idris, and Minister Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

The meeting is also expected to look at ways to improve collaboration between governments, support the party’s development plans, promote good governance, boost economic growth, and enhance national unity.

The Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum will share updates with journalists after the meeting.
