APC hands nomination form to Kwara governorship candidate

The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress officially gave the Independent National Electoral Commission nomination form to its governorship candidate, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, on Tuesday.

The event took place at the party’s state secretariat in Ilorin. Kwara APC Chairman Sunday Fagbemi led the presentation, confirming Danladi as the party's candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

Many party leaders, executives, stakeholders, and supporters attended. They came together to show the party’s readiness for the upcoming governorship election and to stress the need for unity and reconciliation.

After receiving the nomination form, Danladi thanked President Bola Tinubu, the APC National Leadership, the leader of the APC in Kwara State, and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. He also recognized the support from state party executives, ward leaders, and other stakeholders.

He stated, “I thank Mr President, our national leadership, our leader in Kwara State, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, our party executives, ward leaders and every stakeholder for the confidence reposed in me.”

Danladi, who is also the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, expressed gratitude to other aspirants who took part in the party’s primary election with him. He called the process a democratic one where a winner must emerge.

“By the grace of God, the APC is one family. We will remain united and emerge even stronger. Reconciliation is ongoing, and it is our responsibility to carry everyone along as we prepare for the governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly elections,” he said.

He assured party members and the people of Kwara State that he would not let them down if elected. He also prayed for God’s guidance during the electoral process.

Earlier, Fagbemi urged party members to be careful with their social media use. He warned against comments or posts that could hurt the APC’s reconciliation efforts.

“The reconciliation process is already underway. I appeal to all members to avoid actions capable of creating further divisions within our party. Let us remain disciplined, united and focused on securing victory in the forthcoming elections,” the APC chairman said.

The presentation of the INEC nomination form is a key move in the Kwara APC's preparations for the 2027 governorship election. The party is working hard to strengthen unity and gather support across the state.
