Troops from the 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have rescued a kidnapped man, killed two suspected kidnappers, and recovered ₦10 million during an operation in Falgore Forest, Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State.
This information came from a statement by Major Babatunde Zubairu, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, which was shared with PUNCH Online on Saturday.
The operation was launched after Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu was kidnapped on October 11, 2026, at Fanyabo Village in Falgore Forest, Doguwa LGA. He was returning from Yandoka Market in Kaduna State around midnight when the kidnappers took him.
The kidnappers later contacted his family in Yan Taburmi Village, Falgore Forest, asking for a ransom to release him.
Acting on reliable intelligence, troops from the 3 Brigade, along with members of the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and local hunters, set up an ambush in the area.
The operation led to the death of two suspected kidnappers and the successful rescue of the victim. Other members of the kidnap gang escaped deeper into Falgore Forest.
During a follow-up search, the troops found ₦10 million, which was reportedly paid by the victim's family as ransom. The money was returned to Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu and his family.
Brigadier General Saka Jimoh, the Commander of the 3 Brigade, praised the troops for their alertness and professionalism. He highlighted their fighting spirit during the operation.
Jimoh also assured the public that the brigade will keep putting pressure on criminals and work to prevent more security issues in the area. He encouraged people to keep sharing useful information with security agencies to help maintain peace and safety in Kano State.
