The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council has called its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, a genuine leader for all Nigerians and a true statesman. They believe he should win the presidential election set for January 16, 2027.

On Saturday, Kola Ologbondiyan, the Director of Media and Publicity for the council, made this statement while welcoming the Grassroots Mobilisation Network, led by National Coordinator Sadiq Lwafu, to his office.

Ologbondiyan said Atiku is a unifying figure whose political ties and personal views go beyond ethnic, religious, and regional lines. "Atiku Abubakar is a natural Nigerian without any ethnic, religious, or sectional bias. He is a leader for all tribes and regions," he stated.

He pointed out that Atiku’s family, business, and political connections show Nigeria's diversity. "Look at the people around him over the years. Check his immediate family, his businesses, and his political friends. Atiku represents Nigeria, and Nigeria is part of him."

Ologbondiyan added, "He is married across the Niger, his children show our diversity, and his associates come from every tribe and religion. That is what makes him a true leader for all Nigerians."

He compared Atiku to President Bola Tinubu, claiming Tinubu shows favoritism. "In the last three years, Tinubu has acted in a way that favors his own group. His appointments and policies show a pattern of exclusion," he claimed.

He also accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of using Nigeria’s ethnic and religious differences for political gain. "The APC has taken advantage of our divisions for their own benefit. They care nothing for the people's welfare as long as they stay in power," he said.

Ologbondiyan continued, "They are not focused on our unity but on winning elections, even if it harms the peace of the nation."

The council director insisted that the government’s alleged bias has not led to better governance or living conditions for Nigerians. He said the government cannot defend its actions without showing results.

He argued that Atiku’s experience, policy ideas, and dedication to economic recovery make him the best choice to solve the country’s problems. "Atiku Abubakar’s record speaks for itself. Nigeria is at a crossroads and needs Atiku for the challenges ahead. He has a clear plan for our economic recovery," he said.

Regarding fuel subsidy, Ologbondiyan stated that an Atiku-led government would bring back the policy in a fair and organized way to help vulnerable Nigerians and boost production. "Atiku will restore subsidy in a transparent way that will truly benefit the poor and encourage production," he explained.

He claimed that other candidates lack solutions for the nation’s issues. "Atiku is clear, consistent, and ready," he added.

Lwafu said the network is starting a nationwide campaign to rally support for Atiku’s presidential ambitions and to ensure the APC is defeated in the 2027 elections.

He expressed concern that the Tinubu administration has caused serious economic hardship, increased insecurity, and what he called an increasingly harsh political climate. "President Tinubu’s administration has made life very tough for Nigerians. The hardship is unbearable. People now live in fear of insecurity."

He went on, "It seems like governance has fallen apart, as greedy politicians have united against the poor, and democracy has been twisted into an authoritarian regime."

Lwafu warned that Nigeria is heading towards failure, similar to other African countries where democratic institutions have weakened and political power is overly concentrated. "The only person who can save Nigeria is Atiku Abubakar, and we are determined to remove the APC from power through the ballot next year," he said.

Lwafu called the ADC a trustworthy platform that unites experienced politicians and patriotic Nigerians committed to national growth. "ADC is the only platform with great minds and patriotic leaders. Look at our National Chairman, David Mark; Atiku Abubakar; Rotimi Amaechi; Tunde Ogbeha; Rauf Aregbesola; Kashim Imam; Senator Austin Akobundu; Senator Aminu Tambuwal; Emeka Ihedioha; Ralph Nwosu; Dele Momodu; Dino Melaye and others," he said.

Ologbondiyan praised the network for its dedication to national growth and grassroots engagement. The council promised to work with grassroots groups focused on ending what they called APC's misrule, restoring public trust in governance, and rebuilding the country.
