At least 20 people have died in a brutal attack by suspected bandits in the Fesken Rafi community. This incident happened in the Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The Kebbi State Government has expressed deep sadness over this incident. They called the attack tragic and sent condolences to the families of the victims and the people of the affected community.

On Saturday, the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Umar Tafida, led a government team to visit the area. He assured residents that the government is serious about tackling insecurity and protecting lives and property in the state.

He also mentioned that more security personnel and resources would be sent to the area. This is to boost security operations, bring back normalcy, and stop further attacks.

“We share in your grief and remain committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property across Kebbi State,” the deputy governor said during the visit.

The Chairman of Arewa Local Government Area, Sani Tela, and Nuradeen Kangiwa, who represents Arewa Constituency in the Kebbi State House of Assembly, informed the delegation that the attack happened a few days ago. They said it led to a big loss of life.

They praised Governor Nasir Idris for his efforts to fight insecurity and for the quick response to the needs of affected communities. Traditional leaders also joined in praising the government's actions.

Among them was the Dikkon Kabi, Alhaji Kabiru Sulaiman, who represented the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera. The District Head of Bui, Alhaji Abubakar Dan-Malam, also spoke about the government's support.

The traditional rulers requested the building of a road that connects Fesken Rafi community to the main highway. They said this would help improve security response, support economic activities, and enhance living conditions for residents.

This latest attack highlights the ongoing security problems facing rural communities in Kebbi State. Despite efforts by security agencies and the state government, banditry and other crimes are still major concerns.
