The Nigeria Democratic Congress in Benue State has strongly condemned the brutal murder of Igbu Terhemen, the Fiidi Ward Council Chairman. This incident happened in Makurdi Local Government Area.
Igbu was allegedly attacked by some hoodlums. They reportedly tied him up with ropes, injected him with substances believed to be poisonous, and left him near his house close to the NNPC depot along the Makurdi-Otukpo Road.
Agile Bem, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, shared this information in a statement on Wednesday.
The statement said, "He was later found in an almost unconscious state and was reportedly unable to speak or communicate with anyone before he eventually passed away."
Bem mentioned that the State Chairman of the party, Mr Ohini Ojegbe, condemned the murder. Ojegbe described the act as a "broad-daylight evil." He urged security agencies to quickly investigate the case, catch those responsible, and ensure they face justice.
The party also highlighted that Igbu was a committed and dedicated member. His contributions to the NDC's growth will be deeply missed, especially when his service was most needed.
The NDC also extended its condolences to Igbu's family, the Fiidi community, and the entire NDC family. They prayed for God's comfort and strength for them to cope with this great loss.
