Manchester United faced a tough loss at home, going down 3-0 to Bournemouth on Sunday. This defeat raises questions about Michael Carrick's future as manager.

Carrick made a risky choice by dropping captain Bruno Fernandes. This decision backfired as United's winless run extended to eight matches. They now sit 16th in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone.

For the third time in four seasons, Bournemouth won 3-0 at Old Trafford. Goals from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier, and Evanilson secured a well-deserved win for Marco Rose's team.

Fernandes criticized Carrick's tactics after a heavy 4-1 loss to Como, who were playing in the Champions League for the first time. Carrick explained that leaving Fernandes out was for “purely football” reasons. Still, it seemed hard to believe that Fernandes was not being punished, as he stayed on the bench throughout the match.

Bournemouth fans chanted “you’re getting sacked in the morning” at Carrick. But it seems that firing another manager won't fix the problems for a club that has struggled since Alex Ferguson retired 13 years ago.

Carrick's interim run last season ended with a strong finish, earning third place in the Premier League. However, this was helped by the lack of European or domestic cup matches.

This season, United has only won two games: against newly-promoted Ipswich and Azerbaijani team Sabah. They have played 12 matches across all competitions.

Bournemouth started the day below United in the table after a rough start for Rose. Just three days after beating AC Milan 3-0, they showed class again against another European giant.

Rayan opened the scoring in the 38th minute, connecting perfectly with Justin Kluivert's free-kick. Five minutes later, Leny Yoro faltered under pressure from Adrien Truffert, allowing the French full-back to set up Tavernier for an easy tap-in.

Many thought Fernandes would come on for the second half, but he stayed on the bench as United continued to struggle. Just after the break, Evanilson scored, but his effort was ruled offside.

Bournemouth could have won by an even larger margin. Senne Lammens denied Rayan, but the Brazilian winger missed after racing past Lisandro Martinez.

Evanilson finally added a third goal 20 minutes before the end. He rounded Lammens and finished beautifully from a tight angle.

In the closing minutes, United supporters vented their anger at the Glazer family, the club's owners, rather than Carrick. As he left the pitch, Carrick applauded the Stretford End and touched his chest.

But after another disappointing day for the 20-time English champions, it seems Carrick may take the blame.
