Bovi to Bring Laughter at His New Show

Comedian and actor Bovi Ugboma is set to thrill fans with his latest stand-up show, Bovi: Guilty As Charged. The event will take place at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos on October 11. He promises an evening filled with funny stories, relatable humor, and lots of laughter.

At a recent press conference, Bovi shared that the title of his show follows a tradition he has built over the years. Each of his shows revolves around a main theme.

Bovi explained that Guilty As Charged would focus on various issues and human behaviors. Despite the serious themes, he aims to entertain his audience first and foremost.

“I have been doing this for so many years and I have never taken my audience for granted. I always put my best foot forward because people are paying money for this. I need to give them value for their money,” Bovi said.

When asked if political topics would come up during the show, he replied that he would talk about whatever he wants. He aims to strike a balance between humor and offense.

“I touch anything I want to touch whenever I want to touch it. There is a thin line between making jokes and insulting people, and I have always loved to keep a balance regardless of the season we are in. I just want to make people laugh and see the funny side of things,” he stated.

Bovi also explained why he does not often feature other top comedians in his shows. He mentioned financial reasons and his personal view on stand-up comedy.

“If you use somebody’s talent, you are supposed to pay for it. If I feature them, the money won’t be enough for me. Most importantly, I am a puritan when it comes to doing stand-up comedy,” he said.

He did mention that he might plan a show with multiple well-known comedians in the future. He wants to make it clear that this would be different from his personal performances.

“In the future, I may host the Comedy Giants kind of show. That kind of show is a jamboree show to feature everybody. But if I advertise a show by my name, it’s like inviting people to come and see me. If people are coming to watch me, then I should be able to express myself wholeheartedly,” he explained.

Bovi also hinted that an A-list comedian would make a surprise appearance at the Lagos show, though he kept the name of the guest under wraps.
