The Delta State Police have confirmed the death of a 100-level student from a higher institution in Delta State. His elder brother is accused of killing him after a disagreement.

This incident happened on June 17, 2026. The two brothers, Fejiro and Joseph, are 21 and 19 years old, and they were both students at the same school. They lived in a hostel arranged by their parents.

SP Bright Edafe, the police spokesperson, shared this information in a video on Monday. He described the situation as “a very disturbing report” and said it shows the need for better parenting and moral guidance.

Edafe explained that the fight between the brothers started inside their room. Neighbors tried to separate them, but they began fighting again soon after. He said, “Brothers can turn against brothers. Children can turn against their parents if they are not properly brought up. And that is what actually played out on the 17th of June, 2026.”

The fight reportedly began over bedroom slippers. It later became violent as both brothers went to the back of the house and continued their argument. The police spokesperson said Fejiro, the elder brother, stabbed Joseph several times with a kitchen knife before he ran away.

“Now, the elder brother named Fejiro, who is about three years older than the younger brother, took a kitchen knife and stabbed his younger brother multiple times and ran away,” Edafe said.

He added that Fejiro is still missing. The police are actively searching for him. “Till now, he is at large. Till now, we are still looking for him,” he stated.

Edafe raised concerns that drugs or cult-related activities might have played a role in the attack, but investigations are still ongoing. “It is either abuse of drugs or cultism. It is either of the two,” he said.

The police spokesperson assured the public that they would catch the suspect and make him face justice. He emphasized that the case would be fully investigated once Fejiro is found.

He also took this opportunity to stress the importance of teaching young people good values. “Teach them right and good moral values. Teach them to love one another. It is very, very important for them to love themselves,” he said.
