Manchester United's head coach, Michael Carrick, has shared that he talks often with former managers Sir Alex Ferguson and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He is trying to turn around the club's bad form.

Carrick is feeling the heat after United has gone seven games without a win before their Premier League match against Bournemouth on Sunday.

The pressure is rising on Carrick. Some senior players, like Lisandro Martinez and Bruno Fernandes, have criticized the club's recruitment and his tactics.

United is struggling to find consistency. Carrick must boost the squad's confidence and improve their performances to calm fears about his job.

According to BBC Sport on Sunday, Carrick pushed back against the idea that Manchester United has become too difficult to manage. He firmly said “No” when asked about this.

The former midfielder defended his team's pressing strategy. He believes it has been misunderstood in recent comments about his team.

“You’ve got to be careful with just saying ‘not running’,” Carrick said.

He noted that teams can win matches with different tactics and that running stats alone do not decide the outcome of games.

However, Carrick acknowledged that United's overall performance in a 4-1 loss against Como in the Champions League on Wednesday was not good enough.

He said his team needs to return to the standards they showed last season and at times this season.

Meanwhile, Carrick confirmed that he has recently talked to both Ferguson and Solskjaer. He described his relationship with them as close.

Solskjaer, who used to manage Carrick at Manchester United, visited the club's training ground in Trondheim during pre-season to spend time with Carrick and his staff.

Ferguson, who brought Carrick to the club from Tottenham Hotspur in 2006, is also a regular at United matches.

“I speak to both of them quite regularly,” Carrick said. “There’s nothing particular in that. I’m close to both of them. It’s nothing different this week.”

Despite the worries about his position, Carrick is confident in his players. He believes they can perform well against Bournemouth.

“I definitely trust them, 100%,” he said.

“We’ll be a different team on Sunday. We have to be a different team on Sunday.”

United will look to show a better performance against Bournemouth as Carrick aims to end the winless streak and reduce the pressure on his role at Old Trafford.
