Champion Breweries names Malolan Sampath as new MD/CEO

Champion Breweries Plc has officially welcomed Malolan Sampath as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. His new role started on 1 September.

The company shared this news in a statement signed by its Chairman, Imo-Abasi Jacob, representing the Board of Directors.

Mr Sampath takes over following the Board’s earlier announcement about his appointment. This is part of the company’s leadership changes.

In June, PREMIUM TIMES reported that Mr Sampath’s appointment came after Inalegwu Adoga stepped down as the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

The company said Mr Sampath's appointment marks a new phase of growth and change.

The Board believes Mr Sampath’s background in manufacturing and business leadership will help the company meet its goals.

They also said his experience would boost the company's market position and provide lasting value to shareholders and others involved.

The company praised Rasheed Adebiyi, Executive Director of Finance, for his work as Acting Managing Director during the transition period.

Mr Sampath brings 26 years of leadership experience as Managing Director in various fields like beverages, consumer goods, and manufacturing across Africa.

His background in the beverage industry includes being the Managing Director of Unique Beverages in Angola and Sales and Marketing Director for a PepsiCo bottling franchise. He has also worked in the brewing sector.

Before joining Champion Breweries, Mr Sampath was the Managing Director of NPK Joint Venture and Chief Marketing Officer at Indorama Eleme Fertilisers in Nigeria.

He also held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Global Industries Limited, a Wilmar International joint venture in Zambia.

Mr Sampath has a Postgraduate Diploma in Management (MBA) from the Symbiosis Centre for Management & HRD in Pune and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Chennai.
