Cleric advises Osun voters to choose wisely

As the governorship election in Osun State approaches this Saturday, voters are encouraged to choose candidates based on their conscience. They should carefully consider the abilities and character of those running for office.

Voters are reminded not to let money sway their decisions. The choices made at the polls can greatly affect governance and development in the state.

Prophet Sam Olu-Alo from the Christ Apostolic Church Adamimogo and Grace Of Mercy Prayer Mountain Worldwide urged residents to look closely at candidates' past performances, plans, and dedication to the people's welfare before they cast their votes.

He made this appeal on Sunday night during the annual prayer and fasting event at Adamimogo Jesus City Camp, located on Lekki/Epe Expressway in Lagos. This information was shared in a statement from PUNCH Online on Monday.

Olu-Alo emphasized that selecting leaders based on their integrity, skills, and real commitment to public service is key to ensuring good governance and the well-being of the people.

He also urged voters not to sell their votes but to choose someone capable of providing real benefits to the community. "Please think deeply and ensure it is the person you know will bring progress to the state that you vote for. Vote with your conscience and not for money. If you sell your votes in Osun to the highest bidder, know that those who buy the votes from you will first ensure they loot the treasury to retrieve their money when they get to power," he said.

Olu-Alo pointed out that this kind of corruption has kept the nation from moving forward.

"Let your conscience guide you in voting for the right person. Any politician who is hell-bent on enticing you with money to get your vote has no good plan for the state. I also want to urge the electorate to ensure that they do not vote with bitterness."

He added that voters should support the candidates they believe will effectively do the job. This message is also directed at all Nigerians who will be voting soon.

The cleric called on the youth not to let politicians use them to create violence during elections.

"Most of these politicians who send you on such deadly errands have their children living abroad and well protected, but put your life in danger when they send you on such errands. Any nation that allows bloodshed incurs the wrath of God. So, I urge the people of Osun to vote with your conscience and protect your votes."

Speaking about the prayer program and empowerment efforts, Olu-Alo said, "We empower the less privileged, and we are always empowering people so that they can become self-reliant and also useful for our society.

"One of the skills we are equipping people with is digital marketing, and I am surprised that so many people have enrolled for the programme. Our team also provided training on tailoring, Adire making, and other skills."
