Como has finished signing Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea in a deal worth more than £30m.

As BBC Sport reported on Saturday, the 27-year-old defender signed a five-year contract with the Italian club. Como is getting ready for Champions League football after finishing fourth in Serie A last season.

Chelsea will get an initial £25.7m for Chalobah. There is also an extra £5.1m available based on his performance. This follows long negotiations between the two clubs.

This move ends Chalobah’s nearly 20-year relationship with Chelsea. The centre-back joined the club as a child and made 151 appearances for the first team in all competitions.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Chalobah won five trophies. This includes the FA Cup in 2018 and the Conference League in 2025. He also spent time on loan at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town, Lorient, and Crystal Palace.

The England international has two senior caps and was also a late addition to England’s World Cup squad.

Como manager Cesc Fabregas welcomed the signing. He called Chalobah an important addition who can lift the team’s performance.

“Trevoh is an important signing for us and a player who represents the level of ambition we have at this club,” Fabregas said. “He is a leader who can raise the level of the team, and I am very happy that he has chosen Como.”

Chalobah expressed his happiness to join the club and work with Fabregas again.

“I’m thrilled and honoured to be here at Como: it’s an ambitious, rising project, and working with manager Cesc Fabregas again is truly special,” he said.

Chalobah is now starting a new chapter in Italy as Como aims to strengthen their squad for the Champions League campaign.
