British-Nigerian rapper and actor Dave, whose full name is David Orobosa Michael Omoregie, and Nigerian singer Tems, whose real name is Temilade Openiyi, have made it to Spotify’s 2026 “Songs of Summer” predictions released on May 29.
The list came from Spotify and was seen by our correspondent on Sunday. It was put together by the platform’s global editorial team. They highlighted songs that could be summer hits based on trends in global music streaming.
Spotify explained that its editors keep a close eye on the music scene. They choose tracks they think could influence what people listen to during the season across different genres and countries.
Talia Kraines, the Editorial Lead for Pop at Spotify, said, “It’s a song that makes you feel good, that you can listen to outside in the sunshine with your friends, and that has the ability to travel across genres, people, and countries.”
Dave and Tems made the list with their song “Raindance (feat. Tems).”
The song dropped in October 2025. It is the fifth track on Dave’s third studio album called The Boy Who Played the Harp.
Produced by Jo Caleb, Kyle Evans, Jim Legxacy, and the artists themselves, the song combines Tems’ soulful singing with Dave’s thoughtful rap style.
“Raindance” also did well commercially. It hit No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, marking Tems’ first time at the top of the charts in the United Kingdom. The track has also recorded over 500 million streams around the world.
Spotify mentioned that the 2026 list features global artists from genres like pop, rap, Afrobeats, and electronic music. The platform also introduced in-app voting, letting users guess which song will be the biggest hit of the season.
