Afrobeats star Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has told young musicians to stay devoted to God even when they find success. He warned that fame can bring many distractions.
In an interview with Kiss Xtra that went viral on Friday, Davido encouraged upcoming artistes to have faith in themselves. He said they should work hard on their music and remember the values that helped them reach their goals.
He believes that passion, dedication, and improving oneself are important for success in the music business.
“My advice for up-and-coming artistes is first of all, believe in yourself. I worked on my craft so much. I loved music so much that I just wanted to get better every time. When I was young, I was learning from YouTube and the people around me,” he said.
Davido also reminded rising artistes to keep God at the heart of their lives, especially after they become famous.
“Secondly, love what you do and put God first and close, especially when you make it because there are so many distractions that can make you forget He is the reason you are here,” he added.
