Nigerian singer Davido caught people’s attention at the FIFA World Cup Countdown Concert in Los Angeles on Wednesday. He wore a jacket that read “Bring Them Home” during his performance. This jacket had the names of 39 kidnapped schoolchildren and seven teachers from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The kidnapping happened in May when armed men attacked schools in the Ahoro-Esinele community. This raid led to the death of a school official and a motorcyclist. Later, a teacher also died while in captivity, as reported by PREMIUM TIMES.
Davido confirmed his message by sharing a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. The post showed the jacket and said it was a reminder that we should not forget the victims.
The concert was part of FIFA’s countdown activities for the 2026 World Cup. It featured performances from various international artists in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Davido shared the stage with acts like Major Lazer, led by American DJ Diplo.
Davido has talked about the kidnapping before. He has also joined calls for urgent action after the attack.
The incident has raised public concern, especially with the ongoing insecurity in parts of Nigeria.
Since Davido’s appearance, social media has been buzzing with reactions. Many users praised him for using this global platform to bring attention to the situation.
