The Chris Iyovwaye Governorship Campaign Organisation of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Delta State has asked for more transparency in the state’s food bank program. They want to know details about its funding, how beneficiaries are chosen, and records of distribution.

Dr Alfred Mulade, the organisation’s Director-General, made this known in a statement on Thursday. He said the public deserves to have clear information about the resources used for the program and how the help gets to the right people.

A report from Asaba Metro revealed that the third edition of the program took place in Asaba on October 14, 2026. It said that 2,500 women from the 25 local government areas in the state benefited from the initiative.

The report mentioned that each woman received ₦50,000, totaling ₦125 million in cash support. The food items given out were worth over ₦100 million.

Mulade urged those in charge to share details about where the funding came from, how they chose the beneficiaries, and records of the items and financial help given out.

"Families facing hunger need timely support, but such interventions must also be transparent and accountable," he said.

He added, "The public should also be able to understand where the resources came from, how beneficiaries were selected and what was delivered."

The campaign group also wants clear information on how food items were valued. They urged the relevant authorities to make records available for public checking.

Mulade believes transparency will help build public trust in social programs and ensure that help reaches those who need it fairly. He also raised concerns about the long-term effects of the program, asking, "What happens after the food is consumed and the cash is spent?"

He stated that food help should go hand in hand with lasting solutions that improve lives and lessen poverty.

"Deltans deserve assistance that reaches them fairly today and sustained investment that gives them greater economic security tomorrow," he added.
