Operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrived at the polling unit of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in Ekiti State. This happened during the Saturday governorship election in the state.
About 10 EFCC officers showed up at polling unit 003, Ward 06, Ikogosi, in Ekiti West Local Government Area around 9:08 a.m.
It is not clear why the EFCC agents came to the polling unit. But there are signs that their visit may relate to worries about possible vote buying by political parties.
The officers were seen keeping an eye on the voting process at the polling unit. Voting started there at around 8:30 a.m.
Earlier reports said that voting began early across different polling units and LGAs in the state.
Governor Oyebanji, who wants to be re-elected, is the candidate for the ruling APC in this election.
He is aiming to beat 13 other candidates in the governorship race.
The governor’s polling unit has 668 registered voters.
