Emeka Rollas, the former president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, has said sorry to actress Regina Daniels and her mother, Rita Daniels. This apology comes after comments he made during Regina’s marital issues with her estranged husband, Ned Nwoko, who is a senator representing Delta North.

Earlier reports said that Rollas spoke about the dispute. He mentioned that he saw Nwoko express worries about Regina’s smoking. He decided to speak out because he was mentioned in the drama.

Rollas said some of the events that Nwoko talked about happened when he was there. He explained that he only wanted to help Regina and never meant to make fun of her.

The former AGN president also showed disappointment with Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, and Sanni Danji. He said they knew what was going on but did not speak up.

He felt that their silence made him the target of attacks after he got involved in the issue. Rollas also told Rita to focus more on her daughter’s health instead of getting caught up in the AGN elections.

But he criticized Nwoko for making the family issue public and using social media to call out Regina. Rollas also rejected claims that Nwoko funded the guild, paid for its office, or donated $200 million to the group.

Apology

Rollas later apologized to those he mentioned during the issue, admitting that he could have handled it better. He shared his apology on Instagram on Thursday.

Looking back, the former AGN president said he learned that being right about something is not enough if it is not handled well.

He said: "On 20 November, during a time of pressure around the Actors Guild of Nigeria and its leaders, I made a public statement about Senator Prince Ned Nwoko, Regina Daniels, Mrs Rita Daniels, members of the AGN Board of Trustees, and some colleagues. At that time, I believed strongly in the issues I raised and had my reasons for speaking.

"But today, looking back, I must honestly admit: I regret the timing, the platform, and the manner in which I handled it. These were people I had related with, worked with, and, in some cases, considered friends. More importantly, I made those statements at a time when a family was going through a deeply personal and difficult period. I should not have taken that path."

“I’m not proud”

Rollas added that he could not say if those involved would forgive him, stressing that it was their choice to accept his apology.

He decided to apologize after thinking about the incident and realizing that his behavior was not something to be proud of.

He mentioned a recent meeting with Rita while some people were trying to bring peace between them. This made him rethink his words and apologize for his comments.

"So today, without excuses or conditions, I sincerely apologize: to Mrs Rita Daniels and the Daniels family. To Senator Prince Ned Nwoko and his family. To Regina Daniels.

"To the AGN Board of Trustees. And to Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, Sanni Danji, Agility, Nazareth Jesse, my former aides, and every colleague whose name I mentioned. I am sorry," Rollas said.

He emphasized that a good leader must be brave to speak out and also humble enough to admit when they could have done better.

"I could have waited longer or chosen a better path. I may still believe in some of the issues I raised then, but I take responsibility for my actions and my timing. As I move forward, I choose peace, reconciliation, dignity, and respect. I am human. I made a mistake. I have reflected. And today, I say sincerely: I am sorry."
