After a 19-day international break, the Premier League is back on Saturday. Defending champions Arsenal are among the teams eager to kick off again strong.
The 2026/27 season paused after Matchweek 5 due to a change in FIFA's international schedule. This change combined the September and October breaks into a longer period.
The international break ends tomorrow, Tuesday, as reported by PUNCH Online earlier.
The EPL has its first-ever 16-day international break this season. FIFA merged the usual September and October breaks into one from September 21 to October 6. The new setup allowed national teams to play up to four matches in that time, and Premier League games will resume on October 10.
Arsenal will play at the Emirates Stadium, hosting unbeaten Leeds United in the first game of Matchweek 6.
Our correspondent noted on the EPL website on Monday that the Gunners return after a 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion just before the break. Leeds, under Daniel Farke, has started the season without a loss since returning to the Premier League.
Leeds is one of just five teams that have not lost this season, matching a record from the 2001/02 Premier League season.
Saturday's matches also include Aston Villa against Brentford, Chelsea facing Bournemouth, Ipswich Town playing Fulham, and Sunderland meeting Brighton.
The late match is set to be exciting as Manchester United hosts Tottenham Hotspur. Both teams need to turn their luck around.
The biggest match of the weekend will be on Sunday when Liverpool takes on league leaders Manchester City at Anfield.
City enters this match with a perfect record from their first five games. Liverpool has gathered nine points so far.
This match will feature two top scorers. Manchester City’s Erling Haaland leads with five goals, while Liverpool’s Alexander Isak has four.
Liverpool's preparations have hit a snag due to injuries to Isak and Cody Gakpo after the international break. Isak left the Sweden squad with a thigh issue, while Gakpo returned to Liverpool with an ankle injury from the Netherlands team.
Arsenal also has a fitness worry. Germany's Kai Havertz is back at the club for treatment after a muscle injury during the international break.
The weekend wraps up on Monday when Coventry City hosts Newcastle United.
Coventry comes into this match after getting their first points of the season with a win over Nottingham Forest. Newcastle will be aiming for a good result after the break.
Here is the full Matchweek 6 schedule:

Sunday, October 11: Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forest; Hull City v Everton; Liverpool v Manchester City.
