Explosion at Gas Station in Abuja Causes Panic

A gas outlet near Liberty Junction in Kubwa, Abuja, experienced an explosion and fire on Sunday morning, creating fear among residents.

The Federal Fire Service, FCT Command, reported that its firefighters and other emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene around 6:30am. They managed to control the fire, preventing a possible major gas explosion.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the command said, “Federal Fire Service, FCT Command firefighters and other emergency responders today, Sunday 27th September 2026 at about 6:30am swiftly responded to a gas fire at Liberty Junction, Kubwa, Abuja, averting what would have been a major destructive gas explosion.”

The command also shared a video of firefighters at the location, working to contain the flames.

The video showed that the building housing the gas outlet was badly damaged, with smoke billowing from the area.

Nearby vehicles and motorcycles were also seen burnt in the aftermath of the fire.

The Federal Fire Service did not provide details about what caused the fire or the level of damage and any possible casualties.
