Fame hasn't changed my fun side, Ugoccie

Singer Ugoccie has said that fame has not changed her sense of humour. She remains the same person away from the spotlight.

When asked what fame has not changed about her, she told Saturday Beats, "My sense of humour. I still laugh loudly; I have no laugh decorum. I still tease people I’m comfortable with, and I have my old friends. I even have my number of over 19 years."

"Fame has changed certain things around me, but it hasn’t changed the person I am when the cameras are off. Even when the cameras are on, I’m pretty much myself," she added.

Ugoccie also shared that she noticed people were connecting with her music in different ways. Fans began to relate to her songs, style, and creative identity.

"I think I started realising it when people began calling me by my music titles or responding to my conversations with lines from my songs. I also started seeing babes replicate some of my outfits for their shoots," she explained.

She found it funny when she started seeing "Ugoccie type beats" on YouTube. Songwriters began using them as templates for their music. This helped her see that people were connecting with her not just through her music but also through her personality.

"For me, that comes with a responsibility because when people buy into who you are, you have to be intentional about what you put into the world," she said.

On her songwriting process, Ugoccie said she gets her inspiration from real life. She enjoys celebrating women through her music.

"I observe life and find humour and beauty in everyday experiences, so it’s easy for me to turn those moments into music. I also find it easy to write from a place of confidence. You know that feeling of knowing who you are, celebrating yourself and telling your story without apology," she said.
