Five Nigerian contemporary artists will showcase their works at the Art Market Budapest. This is an international contemporary art fair taking place in Hungary.

The artists are Albert Ohams, Nurudeen Odeniyi, Ajibo Ikechukwu, Opara Onyekachi, and Bali Audu. They will take part in an exhibition called Beyond Borders. This exhibition is organised by NK Art Space in partnership with The Brush Cartoon and Animation Centre Ltd.

Nancy Keshinro is the Chief Executive Officer of NK Art Space. In a statement released on Friday, she said the exhibition will explore themes like “identity, heritage, memory, culture and contemporary African experiences.”

Keshinro mentioned that the presentation will include works in painting, mixed media, and contemporary visual practices. The artists will draw on cultural references, personal experiences, and social realities.

She added that the exhibition will not aim to present “a singular definition of African art.” Instead, it will showcase different interpretations of African experiences through the artists’ works.

According to the statement, the exhibited works will look at how African stories are “seen, remembered and reimagined.” They will also explore the link between tradition and contemporary life, as well as personal and collective memory.

The statement explained that the exhibition aims to connect the artists with audiences outside Africa. Their works will be presented at the Budapest art market.

The five artists will join other exhibitors at the contemporary art fair. Their works will be shown under the Beyond Borders exhibition.
