Nigeria’s U17 women national team, the Flamingos, have moved on to the third and final round of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers. They achieved this after a strong two-legged performance against Guinea.

In the first leg in Abidjan, the Flamingos won 5, 0. They finished off the job with a 6, 0 win in the second leg in Ikenne on Sunday, making it a total aggregate win of 11-0.

Playing at home, the Flamingos did not hold back. They showed an even more impressive performance in front of their fans. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi scored the first goal in the 9th minute, thanks to a great cross from Queen Joseph. This goal added to her strong performance in both legs. Captain Harmony Chidi then made it 2-0 with a fantastic long-range shot.

The pressure from the Flamingos did not ease up. Queen Joseph scored again in the 23rd minute, finishing well to increase Nigeria’s lead. Adegbuyi then scored her second goal in the 32nd minute, heading the ball home to show Nigeria's dominance.

Just two minutes later, Chidi scored her second goal of the day. She finished off a nice team play, putting Nigeria firmly in control of the match.

The Flamingos kept their energy high in the second half. Substitute Precious Oscar added the sixth goal in the 70th minute, sealing a strong 6, 0 victory for the day. With this win, the Flamingos now move confidently into the third round with an aggregate score of 11-0. They will face Benin Republic next in the final round of the qualifiers.

Hon. Kunle Soname, who owns Remo Stars Football Club and Beyond Limits Football Club, promised the girls N750,000 for every goal they scored. He has kept his word and paid the Flamingos a total of N4.5 million for their outstanding performance.
