Real Madrid has announced that Florentino Pérez has won the club’s presidential election. He will serve another term as the president of the famous Spanish club.
On Monday morning, the club's Electoral Board released an official statement. They said, “With 100% of the in-person and postal votes counted, the candidacy headed by Mr. Florentino Pérez has won the elections for President and Board of Directors of Real Madrid.”
The Electoral Board reported that Pérez’s ticket received 21,741 votes, which is 65 percent of the total votes cast. “The candidacy headed by Mr. Florentino Pérez obtained 21,741 votes, which represents 65%,” the statement explained.
His opponent, Enrique Riquelme, got 11,814 votes, making up 35 percent of the total votes. “The candidacy headed by Mr. Enrique Riquelme obtained 11,814 votes, representing 35%,” the Board added.
Pérez’s victory means he will keep leading Real Madrid. He will work with a Board of Directors that includes Vice Presidents Eduardo Fernández de Blas, Pedro López Jiménez, Enrique Sánchez González, and Enrique Pérez Rodríguez.
The newly elected board also has Secretary José Luis del Valle Pérez and several other board members. They will all work with Pérez during this new term.
Pérez’s re-election continues his long leadership of Real Madrid. The club is known as one of the most successful football teams in the world. He secured a clear majority of votes from club members.
