Former Coach Supports Uzun and Osimhen Link-up at Galatasaray

Former coach Christian Martin has said that Can Uzun could make a strong partnership with Victor Osimhen if Galatasaray manages to sign the attacking midfielder from Eintracht Frankfurt, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Galatasaray is keen on Uzun as they aim to boost their squad before the new season. Negotiations with Frankfurt are still ongoing.

Martin thinks that moving to Rams Park could help the young Turkish player grow, especially since his creative style fits well with Osimhen’s speed, strength, and movement on the field.

“Can has a superior ability to play in the gaps between the opponent’s midfield and defence. A player with his vision and final-pass ability can be highly effective alongside a dynamic and physically strong striker who makes sharp attacking runs, just like Victor Osimhen.

“Can’s ability to draw defenders towards him and deliver accurate passes would complement a strong centre-forward extraordinarily well. The two could form a very dangerous partnership, with one creating opportunities for the other to exploit,” Martin told Türkiye Gazetesi.

While other teams are quickly improving their squads, Galatasaray has had a slow start to the transfer window. So far, they have only secured the loan signing of Lesley Ugochukwu.

Uzun has become one of their top targets, and Galatasaray has been after the Frankfurt player for several months now.

Recent news from Turkey shows that Galatasaray has made some progress in trying to sign Uzun, but Frankfurt’s asking price is still a big hurdle.

Frankfurt reportedly wants around €60 million for Uzun, while Galatasaray is looking for a lower price. There are reports that the Turkish club might propose a deal for €35 million along with an extra €5 million in bonuses.

If Uzun joins, Galatasaray will have another creative player to support Osimhen, who is expected to be a key part of the team’s plans for the coming season.

The idea of Uzun and Osimhen working together in attack has also increased the excitement around Galatasaray’s interest in the 20-year-old.
