Free Healthcare Reaches Over 2,700 People in Osun as SROL Adds Mental Health Services

Osun State, Nigeria, 8th August 2026, More than 2,700 residents in Imogbara, Odo-Ijesha and Iperindo received free healthcare during the 4th Annual Community Medical Outreach by Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL).

The outreach took place on 7th and 8th August 2026. It provided important health services to local communities and marked a significant step: the expansion of SegunCare, the company’s program that offers long-term treatment and support for residents with chronic diseases, to include more mental health support.

During the two-day outreach, residents benefited from:

● 2,762 medical consultations with qualified doctors
● 81 residents scheduled for general and specialist surgical procedures
● 1,860 laboratory tests
● 563 eye examinations, 21 scheduled eye surgeries and 174 free prescription reading glasses
● Screening for hypertension, diabetes, HIV, Hepatitis B & C, tuberculosis and other health issues
● Health education and wellness sessions
● 7 chronic mental health issues identified, mental health rehabilitation and counselling
● 50 additional residents enrolled into SegunCare for ongoing management of chronic illnesses

Building on the success of SegunCare, which started in 2025, this year’s outreach introduces more mental health support. Mental health diagnoses and treatment have always been part of SegunCare, but this year SROL has strengthened that support.

The expanded program now includes counselling to help patients deal with the emotional challenges of long-term health conditions. There is also rehabilitation support for residents affected by substance use, educational campaigns to change cultural misconceptions about chronic diseases, and patient support groups to fight social isolation. This expansion shows SROL’s growing focus on community healthcare, understanding that long-term health depends on both physical and mental well-being.

Since it began last year, SegunCare has provided monthly medications, routine monitoring and long-term management for about 279 residents with chronic illnesses. After this year’s outreach, 50 more beneficiaries have joined the program, ensuring that more residents continue to receive care even after the outreach ends.

Dr Princewill Osuchukwu, Medical Services Manager at SROL, spoke about the program’s impact. He said, “Our vision has always been to ensure that quality healthcare is not limited by location or affordability. While the annual outreach gives immediate access to important medical services, we know that lasting health requires ongoing care.

Through SegunCare, we keep supporting residents living with chronic illnesses long after the outreach ends. This year, by adding more mental health support, we are taking another important step towards providing better healthcare for our communities.”

Adeshina Sherifat, a beneficiary of SegunCare, shared how the program has changed her life. She said, “Before SegunCare, buying my medication every month was very hard because I couldn’t always afford it. Now, I get my medication regularly, my health is watched, and I feel much stronger. Knowing that the support continues even after the outreach gives me confidence and peace of mind.”

Hon Soji Gbege, Chairman of the Iperindo Community Development Agreement (CDA) Committee, also praised the program. He said, “For many families in our communities, quality healthcare is expensive and often out of reach. What matters most to us is not just what SROL provides during the outreach, but how consistently they have shown up for our communities year after year. That consistency builds trust between SROL and the people here, giving residents confidence that this support is not just a one-time thing.”

Since it started, SROL’s Annual Community Medical Outreach has helped over 13,000 residents. It remains one of the company’s key initiatives focused on prevention, specialist treatment, and long-term health management.
