Galatasaray rejects big offer
Turkish Super Lig club Galatasaray has turned down a huge €120m (around N189bn) bid for Nigeria's Victor Osimhen. This move has dashed Atletico Madrid's hopes of signing one of Europe's top strikers.
Reports from Forza Cimbom say that Atletico Madrid made the offer as they look for a top striker. They are uncertain about the futures of their main attackers, Alexander Sørloth and Julian Alvarez.
Osimhen, who is 27, only joined Galatasaray from Napoli last summer. His fantastic performance in Istanbul has caught the eye of many big clubs in Europe.
Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich are also said to be watching his situation closely.
Osimhen's impressive performance
It is easy to understand why so many clubs are interested. The former Napoli player has been outstanding, scoring 22 goals and making eight assists in 32 matches. He has been key in helping Galatasaray win their fourth Süper Lig title in a row.
He also played an important role in their UEFA Champions League run.
Galatasaray's decision to reject such a large bid sends a strong message. This is especially true for a club that is not in Europe's top five leagues.
Last summer, the Turkish side spent €75m to sign Osimhen permanently and gave him a big contract. This shows they want to keep their star player.
But with the transfer window still open for a few months, we will see if they can hold on to him if bigger offers come in as summer goes on.
