Former Gombe State Governor and current Senator for Gombe Central, Danjuma Goje, has said he is not leaving the All Progressives Congress. This comes after his name was not listed by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the 2027 general elections.

Goje has been in the Senate since 2011. He mentioned he is talking with political leaders and will share his next step at the right time.

Speaking to supporters on Saturday at his home in Gombe, Goje urged them to stay loyal to the party leaders and get ready for his upcoming instructions.

“Do not listen to betrayers, go home, prepare, be loyal to our party leaders and wait for my final order,” Goje said.

He also said, “I am not defecting to any party now, but I am consulting stakeholders. I promise I will be with my supporters with or without a Senate ticket.”

This statement comes as rumors grow about Goje’s political future. He lost the APC senatorial ticket for Gombe Central and was left off INEC’s final candidate list for 2027. There have been offers from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party for him to take their senatorial ticket.

The final list from INEC, released in August, did not list Goje as a candidate for the Gombe Central seat. Goje contested the APC senatorial primary but lost to another candidate.

Reports say Mohammed Ahmed is now the APC candidate for Gombe Central. Some of Goje’s supporters rejected the party’s consensus arrangement that replaced him as the proposed candidate for the district, questioning how it was done.

Goje’s recent comments seem to add fuel to the speculation about his political future. This is especially true with news of offers from opposition politicians.

Still, the former governor has not announced plans to leave the APC. He insists he is consulting with stakeholders before making any decisions.

Goje served as governor of Gombe State from 2003 to 2011. He was re-elected to the Senate in 2023 for a fourth term representing Gombe Central.

With his name missing from the 2027 senatorial candidates’ list, many are now watching to see if Goje will stay with the APC, support another candidate, or look for a different political option.

For now, Goje has told his supporters to stay calm, loyal, and ready for his “final order.”
