Governor Bago reacts to killing of village head by bandits

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has spoken out against the killing of Ahmed Yusuf, the village head of Galla in Borgu Emirate. He was reportedly killed by suspected bandits in his palace during an attack on the community.

Governor Bago called the killing a sign of the “boldness and high level of insolence” of these bandits. He pointed out that it is shocking for a traditional ruler to be attacked right in his palace.

In a message of condolence released on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago urged security agencies to arrest and prosecute those behind the killing.

He expressed his sympathy to Mr Abdullahi, the brother of the deceased, along with Mr Yusuf’s family, the people of Galla, and the entire Borgu Emirate over the loss of their traditional ruler.

The governor praised Mr Yusuf, saying he lived a good life and died while protecting his people.

Governor Bago also promised to support the grieving family, the Galla community, and the Borgu Emirate. He prayed for Allah to grant the deceased Aljanna Firdausi and comfort those he left behind.

This tragic killing highlights ongoing security issues in Niger State, especially in the Borgu area, where bandits have been attacking communities and committing crimes.

Earlier reports showed that suspected bandits attacked Galla, killing several people, including the village head. This has raised new fears about the safety of traditional rulers and rural communities in the region.

The latest incident has sparked renewed calls for better security in areas of Niger State that are vulnerable to attacks. There are demands for security agencies to step up efforts to find and arrest those responsible for these attacks.
