The Independent National Electoral Commission in Sokoto State has called on voters to take part in the election process and trust the electoral body.
The commission made this statement on Thursday through its Public Affairs Officer, Hassan Gendane. This was to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
INEC announced that registered voters in the state can start collecting their Permanent Voter Cards from October 9, 2026, at specific collection centres.
The commission advised people to get information about the electoral process only from official INEC sources. This way, they can avoid being misled by false information.
INEC urged Nigerians to keep the peace, follow the law, and support efforts to build democracy.
“INEC Sokoto reaffirms its commitment to conducting elections in accordance with the law and ensuring that every vote is properly accounted for,” the statement said.
The commission encouraged eligible voters to participate peacefully and responsibly. It highlighted that every citizen has the right to choose their preferred candidates freely.
INEC Sokoto also congratulated Nigerians on the 66th Independence Anniversary. It urged citizens to help maintain democratic governance.
