Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has opened a new industrial facility built by ALREN Construction Company. This includes an asphalt plant, a concrete batching plant, and a precast plant. The facility is in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State.
This facility, which cost about ₦3.5 billion, aims to help local contractors get construction materials easily. It will also reduce challenges for contractors and boost economic activities in the state.
While opening the facility, the governor stressed the state government's plan to support local contractors and create more jobs through private-sector investment.
Governor Namadi stated that this investment fits well with his administration’s 12-Point Agenda, especially its focus on working with the private sector, creating jobs, and growing the economy. "One of our 12-Point Agenda is in action today in this place. That is a partnership with the private sector to generate employment and increase economic activities in Jigawa State," he said.
The governor noted that the new facilities would make it easier for local contractors, especially small ones, to access asphalt and other important building materials without needing to leave the state.
According to Governor Namadi, having these materials available in Jigawa will lessen the problems local contractors face. This will help them take on projects and grow local businesses in the construction field. "Our indigenous small contractors in Jigawa State will now have no reason to travel outside Jigawa State to get asphalt for the work they are doing," he said.
He described the investment as a good example of how private-sector involvement can help the government create more economic chances, strengthen local businesses, and provide lasting jobs.
The governor mentioned that the facility has already created 265 jobs, all for people from Jigawa State. The chairman of the company has promised to raise the workforce to 500 by early 2027.
Governor Namadi also explained that the jobs from this investment would boost economic activities through the earnings of workers and add to government revenue.
He praised ALREN Construction Company for investing in Jigawa State and promised the company continued support from the government. "The Jigawa State Government will continue to work with you, because you are a very good partner to us," he said.
The governor urged the company to look for more investment chances in other sectors of the state’s economy. He assured that his administration is committed to creating a good environment for private businesses.
Earlier, the Managing Director of ALREN Construction Company, Engr. Salim El Ters, said the investment aims to boost the company’s ability to operate, support building development, and create more jobs. "Our main concern today is to strengthen our capacity to support construction development and create valuable employment opportunities," he said.
Engr. El Ters shared plans to grow the overall workforce from 935 to around 1,170 employees. He expects about 30 percent of the new hires to come from Jigawa State.
He thanked the state government for its backing and for making it easier for private-sector investments.
