The Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has expressed sympathy for the Correspondent Chapel of the Kogi State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists. This comes after some members were involved in an accident on Saturday.

According to reports, the Correspondent Chapel was returning from Ekinrin-Adde, where they went for an official job. A reckless truck driver hit their bus, causing injuries to some of the journalists.

Thankfully, no one died in the crash. The injured journalists were rushed to a hospital in Lokoja, where they received treatment and were discharged on Sunday.

On Tuesday, the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Oyiza Afusat, released a statement on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Kankarofi. The statement said, "The Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Command, is deeply saddened by the unfortunate road accident involving our journalist colleagues in the State."

The statement continued, "On behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, PSC, mni, and all officers and men of the Command, we extend our heartfelt prayers and solidarity to the injured journalists, their families, and the entire media community in the State."

The police also assured the media community of their commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of journalists as they perform their important duties.
