The Labour Party governorship candidate for Lagos State, Rotimi Odunaike, started his campaign on Friday. He promised to rebuild the state if he wins the governorship election on February 6.

At a rally in Ikeja, the state capital, Mr Odunaike said he wants to create “A New Lagos For All.” He expressed concern that since 1999, Lagos has mostly benefited a small group of people who have controlled the state.

He criticized the poor state of infrastructure and the lack of basic social amenities. He promised to start fixing these issues from his first day in office.

“I will fix Lagos. Our slogan is ‘A New Lagos For All’. This is not just a mere slogan, but a determination to put the people at the centre of my administration. My deputy, Prince Lateef Adenkule Adele, and I will fix Lagos and make it work for all,” he stated.

The campaign launch also featured the public unveiling of his 162-page campaign manifesto. This document is called Our Covenant With the People of Lagos. It details how he plans to tackle the many problems facing the state.

The event was attended by the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Nenadi Usman, and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

During the event, Mrs Usman, a former senator and minister, urged the party’s Lagos leadership to unite and work together. She said they must strive for victory for their governorship candidate. She emphasized that a divided house cannot stand.

“I charge you to surpass the feat the Labour Party recorded in 2023. I am certain that, with unity of purpose, you can achieve this because the Labour Party is a party of the grassroots in Lagos State,” she added.

Odunaike is a skilled professional and an expert in banking and finance. He is also a visionary entrepreneur with success in agriculture, technology, and artificial intelligence. His achievements show he can lead Lagos into the future.

His previous role as the Chairman of the LP in Lagos State highlights his skills in administration and leadership. He has the ability to guide the state through difficult times.
