The Lagos International Trade Fair Complex Management Board has spoken out against counterfeit drinks and low-quality products in its area. This follows a recent raid by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.

On Tuesday, NAFDAC announced that it seized products worth over N2 billion and arrested two suspects during the raid.

The agency revealed that its investigation found more than 20 illegal stores. These stores were allegedly used to make fake versions of popular alcoholic drinks, sell expired products, and stock banned imports.

Veronica Ndanusa, the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of LITFCMB, shared a statement on Wednesday. She said investigations are now underway to find out more about these illegal activities.

Ndanusa stressed that the complex is meant to support honest businesses. She added that it would not allow itself to become a hub for fake goods.

"Our facility exists to provide a conducive environment for legitimate businesses to thrive, not to serve as a breeding ground for the production or distribution of counterfeit and substandard products," Ms Ndanusa said.

She praised NAFDAC for the raid and stated that the board would cooperate with regulatory and law enforcement agencies. Their goal is to stop illegal activities in the complex.

Ndanusa warned that anyone found involved in activities that threaten public health would be punished according to the law.

She also called on traders and business owners to follow established standards. Safety for consumers should come before profits.

NAFDAC has urged the public to report any suspected illegal manufacturing, expired product sales, or sales of regulated goods. You can reach them through their complaints line at 0800-1-NAFDAC (0800-1-623322).
