Lakowe Lakes Classic Starts with Car Prize for Winner

The 54-hole Nigeria Closed of the 2026 Lakowe Lakes Classic kicks off today at the par-72 Lakowe Lakes Golf Club. Top professional golfers will compete for a N30 million prize ahead of the international event from October 2 to 4.

More than 150 professional golfers from over 12 African countries are expected to take part in the two events. The international tournament will offer a $50,000 prize and World Golf Ranking points.

To make things even more exciting, CIG Motor is offering a brand-new electric car to the overall winner of the international event.

Players from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Ghana, Cameroon, Togo, Gambia, Senegal, Ivory Coast, and Zambia will join Nigeria’s top golfers at Lakowe Lakes.

Oche Odoh, a former number one golfer in Nigeria, said the arrival of the Sunshine Development Tour events in Nigeria is a big boost for local professionals.

The Nigeria Closed will give local professionals a chance to compete for significant prize money before the international field arrives.
