The police in Abuja have arrested a man named Zayyanu Halilu. Officers caught him allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl inside a tinted car at Airport Bridge Taxi Park.

The girl is about three months pregnant due to the alleged abuse. The suspect is now in police custody.

This information came from a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, shared on Saturday.

On October 2, officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit were on patrol around the taxi park. They saw a navy blue Volkswagen with the registration number KMC567LQ parked with its windows closed.

The police noticed the vehicle was shaking, which made them suspicious. They approached and opened the car, where they found Halilu allegedly sexually abusing the girl.

The statement said, "The vehicle was shaking. The officers, suspecting foul play, approached the vehicle and opened it, only to see one Zayyanu Halilu raping a twelve (12) year old minor."

Halilu was arrested on the spot and the girl was rescued, according to the police.

Initial investigations showed that Halilu had lured and sexually abused the girl multiple times in the same vehicle at that location.

The police stated, "Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had, on several occasions, lured and sexually abused the underaged victim in the said vehicle parked at the same location, with threats to ‘deal with her’ if she reveals the abuse to anyone."

A medical check confirmed that the girl is about three months pregnant.

The police added, "The victim is currently receiving medical care and assessment, while the suspect remains in police custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations."

CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, the Commissioner of Police, urged parents and guardians to be vigilant. They should pay close attention to their children’s safety and welfare.

The police also asked the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities or people to the nearest police station or through their emergency lines.
