Manchester City has signed teenage winger Jeremy Monga from Leicester City on a five-year deal. The Premier League team announced this on Saturday.
Monga made his debut in the English Premier League for the Foxes when he was just 15 years old. He chose to join City even though other big clubs were interested in him.
The 17-year-old played 37 matches for Leicester. He also became the youngest player to start a game for the club.
The club has not shared the transfer fee, but reports say Monga's move is worth £10 million (about $13 million). The deal includes add-ons and will keep him with City until 2031.
Monga is the third English player Manchester City has signed in this transfer window. New manager Enzo Maresca wants to refresh the team. The other new signings are goalkeeper Pierce Charles and club-record signing Elliot Anderson.
Monga made his Premier League debut as a substitute in Leicester’s 3-0 loss to Newcastle in April 2025. This was under coach Ruud van Nistelrooy. He started his first match in the League Cup against Huddersfield in August 2025.
As an England under-19 international, Monga is also the third-youngest player to play in the Premier League. The two younger players are Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman.
Monga shared his excitement about joining City. He said, "When I became aware that Manchester City were interested, I knew instantly this was the right choice for me."
He added, "For any young footballer, to become part of this amazing club is a dream come true. This has been the best club in England over the past 10 years."
Monga continued, "And it has also handed opportunities to players from the academy like Phil Foden and Nico O’Reilly, which shows that the pathway is there."
He concluded, "It is a privilege to be here, and I’m delighted to have joined."
