Kylian Mbappé has made history as the youngest player to reach 100 matches in the UEFA Champions League, the top football competition for club teams.

Mbappé is now the fifth French player to reach this milestone, achieving it at 27 years and 298 days.

He hit the century mark on Wednesday while playing for his team in their Champions League match against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico in Italy on October 14, 2026.

The French captain scored an equaliser in the first half to make it 1-1. Madrid later won the match 4-3.

Lionel Messi held the previous record, reaching 100 matches at 28 years and 84 days against Roma on September 16, 2015.

Mbappé started his Champions League journey as a 17-year-old with Monaco in September 2016.

Last season, he topped the Champions League scoring chart with 15 goals. He also made headlines for scoring the second-fastest hat-trick in Champions League history against Olympiacos, netting three goals in just six minutes and 42 seconds.

UEFA reports that Mbappé is the second player this season to reach 100 games. His teammate Thibaut Courtois became the first Belgian to achieve this on Matchday 1.

Four other players also reached 100 appearances during the 2025/26 football season. They are Bernardo Silva, Joshua Kimmich, Jan Oblak, and Nicolás Otamendi.

Raúl González, a legend for Madrid and Spain, was the first player to hit 100 Champions League appearances. He did this on February 21, 2006, at 28 years old, coming on as a substitute in Real Madrid’s 1-0 loss to Arsenal at home.
