Moses Simon Celebrates 100th Game for Super Eagles

Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has said reaching 100 appearances for Nigeria is a “great privilege” and a dream come true. He hit this milestone during the Super Eagles' 2-1 win over Madagascar in Uyo on Friday evening.

The Paris FC player came off the bench in the second half. He replaced Akor Adams, a former Sevilla striker, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium. Simon quickly showed his speed and skill, taking on Madagascar defenders and creating chances for Nigeria as they won their first match in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying round.

In the post-match press conference, Simon talked about what reaching 100 games means to him. He thanked the coaches who have trusted him throughout his international career. “Thanks to the coach for the opportunity. Thanks to every coach that gave me the opportunity,” Simon told reporters.

The 31-year-old said he never thought he would reach 100 appearances when he started his international career. This makes the achievement even more special to him. “Of course, this gives me joy and it is a great privilege to play for the Super Eagles,” he added.

But for Simon, this milestone is not the end of his journey with the national team. He promised to continue giving his best whenever he gets called up again. “It is a dream come true. I never believed I would play 100 games but I believe one thing, whenever I am called up, I will be there to give one hundred per cent,” he concluded.

Simon’s game against Madagascar also puts him among a select group of Nigerian footballers who have reached 100 caps for the Super Eagles. He now joins Joseph Yobo, Vincent Enyeama, Ahmed Musa, and Alex Iwobi, all of whom have made at least 100 appearances for Nigeria.

After celebrating this landmark moment in Uyo, Simon will focus on the Super Eagles’ qualifying campaign. Nigeria is set to face Guinea-Bissau in their next Group L match on 29 September.
