The Nigeria Democratic Congress on Sunday said it is not connected to the various results of its recent nationwide primaries that are spreading on social media. The party stressed that only its National Executive Council can announce the results of the primaries.

The party also urged people to ignore the results shared in the media. They emphasized that the official outcome of the primaries held across the country on May 28 and 29 is still with the NEC.

The PUNCH could not confirm if this warning applies to all the primaries, including the recent affirmation of Peter Obi’s presidential ticket.

In a statement from Abuja, NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, said a NEC meeting has been called in Abuja to discuss the primaries and other related issues next week.

He stated, "The general public is hereby urged to disregard the various results circulating on social media as the outcome of the nationwide primaries conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress on the 28th and 29th of May, 2026.

The results of the primaries are with the National Executive Council of our great party. They are solely responsible for announcements of results."

Director explained that the meeting was called on the orders of the National Leader, Seriake Dickson.

"On the order of the National Leader of our party, His Excellency Senator Seriake Dickson, a NEC meeting of the party has been called.

Therefore, all members of NEC are to arrive at Abuja for a pre-NEC meeting on Tuesday, 2nd of June, while the NEC meeting will be held on Wednesday, 3rd of June, 2026," he added.

The party also reassured its members and stakeholders that the official list of candidates from the primaries will be made public after the necessary ratification processes and before it is sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The statement said, "The general public and stakeholders will be availed of the results of our primaries when we send the list of candidates to fly our party’s flag to the INEC."

This clarification comes as speculation grows over the results of the party’s primaries, held nationwide to choose candidates for various positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The emergency NEC meeting is expected to play a key role in ratifying the results and addressing any disputes that may have come up from the primaries before the party submits its final list of candidates to INEC.
