The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized 2.55 million tablets of opioids worth over N3 billion at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.
On Sunday, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi shared the news. The drugs, weighing 1,640.55 kg, were taken on Tuesday, 22 September, during checks on three consignments at the airport's import shed.
The consignments included Tramaking 225mg, Tramaking 250mg, and Royal Tapentadol 250mg. They came from India and Bangladesh via Qatar Airways, RwandAir, and Ethiopian Airlines.
This seizure is part of a string of major opioid captures at the Lagos airport this year.
In August, the NDLEA reported it had seized 3.9 million tablets of Tramaking and Tapentadol, weighing 2,787.40 kg and valued at over N4.6 billion.
In May, they also caught 1,825,710 tablets of Tapentadol 250mg, which they valued at N2.19 billion.
