President Bola Tinubu has sent a team from Nigeria to Addis Ababa for a leadership exchange visit. This visit is meant for sharing ideas and learning from Ethiopia's success.
The team will be led by Vice President Kashim Shettima. Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State will also be part of the delegation.
They will leave on Tuesday for the Nigeria-Ethiopia leadership exchange, which is set to take place from October 7 to 9, 2026.
Other governors joining the team include AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq from Kwara, Alex Otti from Abia, Bassey Otu from Cross River, Babagana Umara Zulum from Borno, Ademola Adeleke from Osun, and Umar Namadi from Jigawa.
The purpose of this exchange visit is to support the Federal Government's promises made during the launch of the Nutrition 774 Initiative (N774). This initiative aims to improve nutrition at the state level.
Ethiopia's Seqota Declaration has been seen as a good example. It has effectively turned national commitment into successful nutrition programs at local levels.
In 2015, Ethiopia pledged to end stunting in children under two years old by the year 2030. This promise is part of the Seqota Declaration (SD).
The Seqota Declaration is executed through a program that involves nine government ministries. These include the Ministries of Health, Agriculture, Education, Water, Irrigation and Energy, Women, Children and Youth, Transport, Finance, MOLSA, Culture and Tourism.
The Seqota Declaration has a 15-year plan divided into three steps: Innovation, Expansion, and Scale-Up.
