The Nationwide League One (NLO) Secretariat has given a strong warning to all clubs and players in the league. They should not take part in any private football competitions that do not follow the official football rules in Nigeria.
In a message sent to all registered clubs, the NLO Secretariat raised worries about some clubs and players linked to the NLO joining private leagues. These leagues are not recognized or approved by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The NLO Secretariat made it clear that joining these leagues breaks Article 3.01(6) of the NLO Rules and Regulations. This article states: “Players/clubs registered with the NLO shall not be allowed to play for any private league other than the national leagues in the Nigeria Football Federation.”
They stated that every club registered with the league must follow this rule. All clubs agreed to these rules when they signed up for the league.
As a result, the NLO has told all clubs to stop joining any private competitions that do not have the proper recognition or approval from the NFF.
The warning also applies to registered players. They are not allowed to play in these unauthorized competitions. Clubs must not allow their registered players to participate in any private leagues that are not approved.
